Amputee Support Group

AmpNation Indiana

An integral part of recovery is developing friendships and learning from your peers, Curtis started his own Amputee support group in 2019 in Indianapolis and continues to grow this group across the state of Indiana. This group is connected through Facebook in a private group. The group meets in person in different parts of the state as well as virtually on the 2nd Tuesday of the month for “Let’s Talk Tuesday,” a chance to connect everyone across the state. AmpNation also promotes other support groups, sharing their meeting dates and information so that members know the resources available around them. Patients, family members, even therapists are welcome to join to share their experiences and most importantly empower one another. This group is a nonbiased safe space that all are welcome to join. If interested in joining, please request to join at https://www.facebook.com/groups/ampnationindiana.

AmpNation Functional Exercise Class

Unique to Indianapolis Curtis has developed and runs a group amputee exercise class out of a local gym biweekly. This class is available to amputees of any fitness or functional level and the gym is even equipped with parallel bars so patients can come even before or without their prosthesis to exercise. The purpose of this program is to give patients a safe space to work on their home exercise program, and even progress their functional status before, during, or after they have completed the rehabilitation process. With Curtis’s years of experience in both strength and conditioning and working with medically complex patients with amputations he can develop a group exercise plan that is safe, effective, but he always focuses on making sure it’s fun. Classes are held at Grateful Gains Gym located at 5305 Commerce Square Dr Suite A, Indianapolis, IN 46237. Click here for our 2023 gym dates.
