Meet the Practitioners
John M. Kenney, CPO, FAAOP
John “Mo” Kenney is an ABC certified Prosthetist/Orthotist with over 20
years of clinical experience. He has extensive knowledge and training in
anatomy and biomechanics. Mo entered the O&P by accident – literally. “My
leg had to be amputated after an accident when I was 7 years old. The whole
process of getting a leg fascinated me. I want to use my knowledge and
personal experience to help my patients achieve their greatest potential.”
Mo is certified in fitting the C-Leg, a microprocessor-Controlled Knee-Shin
System for Transfemoral Amputees. He’s also completed the Otto Bock Harmony
Course, the Otto Bock Upper Extremity Hybrid Course, Mas Socket and Proprio
Foot. Mo is a member of the Continuing Education Committee for the American
Board for Certification (ABC). He has been an examiner for both Prosthetics
and Orthotics for ABC since 1996. He is a Fellow of the
American
Academy of
Orthotics and Prosthetics. He is a member of the board of Directors for ABC
and is the past President of the
Kentucky
Society of Orthotics and Prosthetics. For the past 11 years, Mo has been
part of a humanitarian effort involving an elite group of American
Prosthetists who visit
Queretaro, Mexico.
They’ve helped to build a fully equipped clinic and have recently helped to
adopt and administer Mexico’s first
ever prosthetics certification exam. Mo is currently working on building a
similar clinic in
Ukraine.
Thomas McIntosh, CPO
Tom is an ABC Certified Prosthetist Orthotist with over seven years of
experience in the field. Tom is a graduate Eastern
Kentucky
University
as well as a graduate in both the Orthotics and Prosthetics Programs at
Northwestern
University.
Tom strives to stay up to date and proficient on all new Orthotic and
Prosthetic technologies and methods and has been certified in the MAS Socket
design, the Otto Bock C-Leg and the Proprio Foot. Tom welcomes all feedback
and questions concerning the field of Orthotics, Prosthetics and individual
questions about their personalized care.
Gary A. King, CPO
Gary A. King
CPO first learned of the Orthotics and Prosthetics profession when he was
injured in a farming accident in 1992, losing his R leg above the knee and
suffering extensive soft tissue damage to his L lower extremity.
Gary
wears a knee ankle foot orthosis (KAFO) on his left leg and an above knee
prosthesis on his right leg and likes to say that he is equally indebted to
both the Orthotic and Prosthetic profession every day that he continues to
work and walk independently. Gary attended
the Northwestern University Orthotic and Prosthetics programs at the
Feinberg School of Medicine in
Chicago,
IL.
Continuing his commitment to civic responsibility, he is now a volunteer
board member of the Kentucky Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (KOPA), and
has forwarded the issues of licensure and insurance parity for all in the
Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Gary is a member of the
American
Academy of
Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) and is pursuing fellowship. Gary strives to excel at
passionate patient care and is committed to providing the best service
possible to his patients.
William Lester, Board Eligible Orthotist
Billy is currently working in his second year as an Orthotist at Kenney
Orthopedics while involved in the
Northwestern
University
Prosthetics program. He is an alumnus of
Northwestern
University in which
he graduated in May, 2006 with a degree in Orthotics.
Billy
enjoys the one on one relationships established with patients in the field
of O & P and
dedicates his time and efforts to help
make a difference in people’s lives. With over 4 years of experience in the
field Billy plans to further his professional education and training in
order to become a CPO.
Casey Thomas
Casey is an
Orthotist who is currently enrolled in the Orthotic Program at
Northwestern
University.
He is a 2007 graduate of the University
of Kentucky with a Marketing degree from the Gatton
College
of Business. Casey has more than four years of experience in the O&P field
as a Technician and enjoys the unique individuals that he meets on a day to
day basis. He is also interested in the technological advances being made
that allow for the human body to be engineered and maintained after a life
changing injury. Casey plans to attend the Prosthetic program at
Northwestern
University as well
and continue impacting the lives of individuals in his community and beyond.
Trini Hernandez
Trini Hernandez is an Orthotist and Prosthetist from Mexico City. Trini
graduated on January 2001 at National Institute of Rehabilitation in Mexico. She has
worked at the same hospital for four years experiencing all types of
amputees. Trini joined us in April 2006 as a resident, and is learning about
the new technology in this field, in order to better care for the people of Mexico.
Ron Boots, RTP
Ron was certified
in 1996 by the American Board of Certification in Prosthetics and Orthotics
as a Registered Technician in Prosthetics and in 2006 Ron received ABC
certification as a Registered Prosthetic Assistant. Ron is one of only 2 in
Lexington and 8 in the state of
Kentucky
who are certified with ABC as technicians. With over 20 years of technical
experience in prosthetics, Ron has a wealth of knowledge about the field.
Ron regularly attends meetings and conventions held by ABC, AOPA, and the Kentucky Society of Orthotics and
Prosthetics. He also attends courses offered by various prosthetic companies
in the United States
gaining a working knowledge of the new technology in the field.
